In this ministry, our visitors reach out to our parishioners who are unable to attend Mass because they are in the hospital, a nursing home, or are homebound. For the sick and homebound, the reception of Communion is not only a privilege but also a sign of support and concern from the parish. The visitor is an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. The visit includes a ten to fifteen minute period of prayer and Holy Communion. A friendly conversation may be included in the visit, prior to the prayer period. Confidentiality and good listening skills are a vital aspect of this ministry. The frequency of visits to a parishioner who is at home is arranged between the visitor and the person being visited. For those who are in the hospital or nursing home, there is a designated time for the visit.
